The Georgetown Equine Expo is presented by the Kentucky International Equine Expo LLC, with the support of Georgetown Mayor, Karen Tingle-Sames, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce director, Jack Connor, Scott County Tourism Director, John Simpson, and the Lexington Chamber of Commerce.
The Georgetown Equine Expo will deliver 17 full days of events that enhance the true "American Spirit" of the equine industry. Nightly performances by Buffalo TC's Wild West Adventure will showcase the authentic Western atmosphere with Harvey Wallbanger, a 3000 pound buffalo jumping through fire hoops, Legends of the West including Jesse James Gang, Wyatt Earp, Doc Holliday, infamous Wild West gunslingers, Native American Hoop Dancers, Cowboy Mounted Shooting and much more.
In celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Festival of the Horse, regional artists can compete in painting ten, life-sized rearing Mustangs during "Mustang Mania". These Mustangs will be auctioned off the last weekend of the event, Saturday October 9th with 100% of the net proceeds donated to the Scott County Arts Council.
Stroll throughout the big tents, filled with the nation’s finest signature equine art, supplies, and sculptures from over 220 exclusive exhibitors. The 65,000 square foot festival tent will be filled with a selection of Kentucky Proud food items, Educational displays from regional and national equine schools, nightly entertainment and The Top Shelf Tasting Tent, featuring live piano.
The surrounding cities and counties are invited to showcase their special attractions by exhibiting at The Expo and by participating in the "Silks and Southern Charm" bus tours of the Bluegrass.
Local and national non-profit organizations will benefit from activities associated with The Expo, such as nationally recognized Old Friends Retired Thoroughbred Farm, The Disabled Jockey's Fund, and The Alzheimer's Association of Kentucky, which is featuring the Mutts & Mustangs Walk during the Festival of the Horse's Children's Parade.
